Yankees’ Lidle remembered with aerial tribute, fast-food burgers (AP)
Dark gray clouds gave way to pockets of sunny, blue skies near the end of a memorial for New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle. As the day wore on, laughter and smiles outnumbered tears, too. Hundreds of family, friends and teammates remembered Lidle on Tuesday at an emotional 45-minute outdoor service in his hometown.

Phillies hire Howe, Lopes and Williams (AP)
The Philadelphia Phillies put together an all-star coaching staff to assist oft-criticized manager Charlie Manuel. Former major league managers Art Howe, Davey Lopes and Jimy Williams each signed a one-year contract Monday to join Manuel’s staff, giving the Phillies tons of experience in the dugout. “They have instant credibility,” general manager Pat Gillick said.

Nationals keep St. Claire, lose Lopes; other coaches in limbo (AP)
Randy St. Claire will stay on as the Washington Nationals’ pitching coach in 2007, first-base coach Davey Lopes is leaving, and the rest of the coaching staff won’t know its status until a new manager is hired. St. Claire’s return, announced Monday, guarantees some continuity for what could be an overhauled and inexperienced pitching staff.

Johnny Callison, former Phillies All-Star, dies at 67 (AP)
Johnny Callison, the rocket-armed right fielder for the Philadelphia Phillies who hit a bottom-of-the-ninth home run that won the 1964 All-Star game, has died. He was 67. Callison died Thursday at Abington Hospital following an illness, Phillies spokesman Larry Shenk said Friday. He lived in Glenside, a Philadelphia suburb.
